About Flame Dineen – Registered Midwife
I have lived in Boulder, Colorado since 1980. I have a son, Justin, 29 years old. Justin was born naturally in a hospital because I had no awareness at the time about homebirth as a possibility. It was after the birth of my son that I was called to educate other women about the choices available to them when giving birth. I have two daughters who came to us through adoption.
I began studying midwifery in 1990. After a year of classes, workshops and self-study I began my apprenticeship with Boulder midwife, Terra Richardson. My apprenticeship lasted 3 years. I attended and assisted over 30 homebirths during that time. I received experience in managing a variety of smooth and difficult births. After completing my apprenticeship requirements in 1995, I began my own midwifery practice as an Intern Midwife, under the supervision of CMA-Certified Senior Midwife Terra Richardson. After Managing 30 births as the primary widwife, I became a State Registered Midwife in November, 1997. As of May 2008, I’ve delivered 371 babies.
